The role of each document

Wills, representation and probate.

A will records estate wishes and proposed appointments. A power of attorney delegates specified acts. Administration after death follows its own authority and asset-transfer requirements.

The distinct roles of asset records, powers of attorney, wills, executors and probateProperty, accounts and company interests inform two separate document routes. During life, a power of attorney delegates defined powers to a representative, subject to the receiving institution’s requirements. Estate planning records gifts and appointments in a will; administration after death requires the relevant succession authority and asset-transfer records. During life

Power of attorney → representative → specified act

The document defines the powers and limits of the representative. Execution and the receiving institution’s requirements need to be checked for the intended transaction.

Estate planning and administration

Will → executor → probate and asset transfers

The will records gifts and proposed appointments. After a death, the appropriate succession authority must be established and asset-specific records and transfer procedures completed.

Lifetime representation and estate administration are different roles. This diagram shows document functions; it does not determine the applicable law, inheritance shares or authority acceptance.
